Step one: Fill out this form and we'll determine if your services will align with a pre-existing program, or if you should start your own.

Step two: Get a group of students together, and draft a mission statement. This should help you formulate a clear idea of the who, what, when, where, and why of your new program. Examples of things to think about include: how often will you meet/have events? What demographic will you target? What are your main goals?

Step three: Funding. Make a draft of a typical yearly budget. This will help you choose which funding avenues to pursue. There are many grant opportunities available, from the national to the university level; we've done some work for you and compiled a list. Funding list

Step four: Advertise! Every successful program needs volunteers and participants. Once you have a clear program established via steps 1-3, contact us using the new program form. Be sure to include whether you’d like your program to be highlighted on the website and advertised to Columbia departments (both recommended). Set up a social media account, and reach out to any participants you want to recruit!
